It shortened it so much they decided to remake the whole game.
If Season 1 isn't spectacular when it comes out then I think this will probably end the game. I'm guessing as part of the planned Steam release they need to move all the artwork to one style which is why they are seemingly going back over the first part of the game and doing artwork to the extent that they are. There may also be issues with Steam of just spamming out AI art without doing more to tailor it.
It also looks like they are adding in new scenes and plot to smooth it all through and, I imagine, try and keep the current base engaged somewhat through what is otherwise looking like years of delay to eventually catch to where they currently are. If the current subscribers aren't happy with the finished product this could end badly.

Seeing how what they are working on is a revamp the first fifth of the entire story (whatever they are calling "Season 1") to submit to Valve for Steam consideration... something they said months ago, after they got booted from Patreon this past spring... your "calling it" is more Captain Obvious than Nostradamus.
Even with them saying they are adding some new content to the revamp. There will some new UI implemented (based upon the screenshots), redoing of previous art using Uberpie's AI modeling, and some added content. But we'll see what is "new" in terms of content.
I think there was a glitch in one of the old versions of the game that those two CGs weren't viewable in the gallery, even though players saw them during game play.
Edit: yes, from 2 years ago. It was either v0.82.4 or v0.85.1 that had that glitch. It was fixed for v0.89.8, for sure.

No, but really - Why would you wait?
First, there is currently no such thing as "Season 1." This was a new invention by Uberpie for Taffy Tales with the release of v0.95.7, which he labeled as "Season 5" and then labeled v0.89.8 as "Seasons 1-4."
Second, we don't know what "Season 1" even entails. We know it begins on "Day 1" of game time - but we don't know what they are selecting for the content of "Season 1" or what they are adding.
Third, it could still be many months before they have something ready to submit to Valve for consideration on Steam. And they've yet to create a public entity on Steam, nor have they bothered to pre-list Taffy Tales on Steam. So, there's that as well.

It's still worth fleshing out here - yes, it's unknown how long before the Season 1 rework itself comes out. But it's also unknown what will happen next. Maybe Uber will decide to rework seasons 2-4. That's going to take a lot of time. Is the questioner willing to wait? Or Uber will decide to remake season 5 to fit the realities of the first season and release an update (unlikely, judging by how different the season 1 remake is from 0.89.8c). Hence the following - we'll have to wait even longer for season 2-4 reworks, and season 1 rework doesn't really compare to 0.89.8c (too many differences, it will be hard to jump from season 1 rework to seasons 2-4 of 0.89.8c (whatever the content is)). In general, the wait is long anyway and there is no point in waiting for the above reasons (in my opinion)
I've waited literally like 3 years to play this so 6 months more isn't going to kill me. I guess the real question is if there's going to be major improvements in the remaster, either to art, story or systems.

I honestly don't know why you're waiting, as has been seen in the last 3 years, even if you think something is "consumable" - Uberpie will go back and revamp it (twice) anyway. Remember that v0.82.4/v0.85.1 was 95% a revamp of the intro of Taffy Tales 2 years ago, but still left if a sizeable number of coding issues (such as the 3 cameras problem). Now, he's working on a revamp of the intro of Taffy Tales, again for the "Season 1" Steam submission for consideration. And he may do so again a year or two after that.
You waiting for it to be "ready" means you'll never play this. You might as well play it now.
Ahh okay I didn't know about the last revamp hmm. I was fully intending on playing this when I posted but then saw the posts about a rework for steam and was like... oh.
But I guess the issue really is just that there's no information about how much or how soon so hmm hard to decide. I was kinda hoping you would tell me he's not going to change anything and it's just a repackage for steam rather than a serious rework, but I guess just nobody knows... I think I will wait lol check back in 6 months baby. There's a backlog of other games anyway.

At 1st i had hope.
But now I'm 100% sure that Uberpie is going to do what DarkCookie did with Summertime Saga.
So anyone who wants to play this should download Season 1-4 version and than forget about it.
I don't see the game being made anytime soon, and whenever it's released I'm sure it's not gonna be as good as the current season 1-4 , especially after the AI art.
So this is the endof content for this project.
Which is such a shame but than again it's been dead for a while.
It would have been great to see the story continue with original art even with small updates but alas .

I just go to latest updates and sort by highest rated, it's pretty easy to find games.

Sadly there will be no more updates from this game......
Count Morado what do you think the chances of them getting approved are? Starting to wonder if something’s going on there since they missed their weekly update yesterday

I recently downloaded the 1.07 version but when I start a new game it makes me play only season 5...is there a way to play the game from the begin?
